Dark: the art of calligraffiti

An abstract calligraphy artist, Dark was born in 1996 in Paris. He has been working on walls since 2012 and with pen and ink since 2016.

Among his fondest childhood memories, typography stands out as an endless source of inspiration and fascination. Writing is a fundamental pillar in the architecture of collective living, serving as both a medium for communication and a reflection of diversity.

A relentless dreamer, Dark unconsciously interprets the myth of Babel, attempting to recreate the Adamic language through his work.

After extensively studying the visual characteristics of numerous alphabets from around the world, he has mastered the art of manipulating them, reshaping and reinventing their forms until they become uniquely his own.

His work conveys a universal message—fluid and adaptable in its form, it embodies unity within diversity, cohesion within plurality, and harmony through contrast.

The mural dimension of his art holds deep significance, serving as the ideal canvas for his vision: to heterogenize difference. Whether his work pleases or provokes, Dark’s ultimate goal is to evoke emotion and spark reflection, inviting his audience to engage with the power of language in new ways.
