Matt_tieu: a poetic vision of street art

Matt_tieu roams the streets of the city, drawing faces and animals with chalk in unexpected places to entertain and astonish. His signature animal is the ostrich, the world’s largest bird, with its somewhat awkward appearance that brings a smile to anyone who sees it.

Matt_tieu’s work is meant to be ephemeral, in line with street art, where a mural never lasts for long. What matters is being caught by surprise at the corner of a street, encountering the stunning forms of an animal that astonishes us. These animals are often large birds, like waders, marabous, and of course, the ostrich. Matt_tieu also draws animal skeletons, acting as a necessary alarm to raise environmental awareness.

Born in 1986 in Epinal, Matt_tieu now lives in Paris and regularly visits the Pouldu in the south of Finistère for vacations.
