Saype: a pioneer of ephemeral and committed land art
In each of his works, Saype captures the fragility of our societies and the challenges we all face, using monumental frescoes created on grass, earth, sand, and snow across the world. His art has left its mark in cities such as New York, Paris, Venice, Tokyo, Geneva, Cape Town, Turin, Nagasaki, Nairobi, Istanbul, Ouagadougou, Miami, and many more.
The temporary nature of his frescoes, designed to fade away over time, aims to impact mindsets while respecting the environment. They are created with an eco-friendly paint primarily composed of chalk and charcoal, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
One of his most significant projects is the Beyond Walls series. This monumental initiative was born from a simple observation: the world is becoming increasingly polarized, with parts of the population choosing isolation over unity. However, Saype firmly believes that “Only together can humanity overcome the challenges it will have to face.”
From this conviction emerged his desire to share a positive message of solidarity and collective effort. Through his art, he symbolically created the largest human chain ever depicted, spreading a message of unity and connection across the world.
