Smoka : from graffiti to lettering and muralism, an urban signature

Smoka, a mural artist and graphic designer based in France, embodies an artistic passion that has driven him since childhood. In the 1990s, he immersed himself in the fascinating world of graffiti. Drawn to the explosion of colors and the impressive scale of the artworks, he created his first murals in 1998. A self-taught artist with a relentless pursuit of improvement, Smoka initially explored various intricate lettering styles. He later deepened his knowledge by studying graphic design in Quimper, merging his technical skills with his passion for painting.

In 2006, Smoka joined the 100 Pression artist collective in Nantes, opening the door to a wide range of projects and the exploration of new artistic mediums, such as large-scale facades, canvases, and screen prints. Whether working collaboratively or solo, Smoka has actively contributed to urban art projects across Europe for over a decade. At the same time, his painting studio has become a laboratory for graphic experimentation.

Smoka’s distinctive style as a mural painter skillfully blends portraits, typography, patterns, and textures, resulting in dynamic and unique compositions. Patterns and colors play a vital role in his work, creating a singular rhythm in his creations that oscillate between abstraction and figuration. His murals challenge our beliefs, confront our human certainties with the realities of the world and nature.

As a mural artist based in France, Smoka brings a unique perspective to urban art. He seamlessly fuses traditional graffiti with contemporary elements, crafting a captivating and evocative artistic universe.
